From School Library Journal Gr 58Although her parents are the local superheroes, it looks like Jessica Tran is merely 'normal.' Taking an internship would be another normal thing for her, except it turns out she'll be working with her biggest crush as well as for her parents' nemesis. Can she work alongside Abby without making a total fool of herself? And what is the truth about heroes and villains in this superpowered world? This is a light romp of a middle grade adventure/romance, but the real strength is in its matter-of-fact representation of LGBTQ and first-generation American identities. While the meanings of these identities are explored, they are not the focus of the book and are simply part of the character- and world-building. Coming out has already happened, friendships based on immigrant identity are complicated, and there are many primary and secondary characters who fall into these categories so that no single character has to stand for everyone. It's unfortunate that the use of the third person is so clunky throughout and that the twists are so obvious, but these are minor issues. VERDICT A good addition to any middle grade library concerned with LGBTQ and racial diversity representation across all genres.L. Lee Butler, Hart Middle School, Washington, DC Read more Review Jess and Abby are delightful characters and superhero fans like this reviewer will especially enjoy Lee's take on how superpowers work. I'm ready for the sequel! --RT Book ReviewsLee (Seven Tears at High Tide) offers up a fast-paced, engaging tale set in a quasi-dystopian 22nd-century America where the line between hero and villain is often blurred. With a diverse cast of characters, both in terms of sexuality and ethnic background, and a wholly adorable romance for Jess, it s a lively exploration of morality in a superpowered age. --Publishers Weekly is a smooth read with characters who hit the likeable zone between being overly self-involved and unrealistically altruistic A large part of the story deals with her expectations about what it means to be ordinary and what it means to be extra-ordinary. This is a theme that will speak strongly to the current generation. --Queer Sci-Fi Read more See all Editorial ReviewsLet me introduce to you my new favourite book is one remarkable superpowered book It has everything that I want in a book it has superheroes and is a smooth read with characters who hit the likeable zone between being overly self We would like to show you a description here but the site won t allow us The Paperback of the by C B Lee at Barnes Noble FREE Shipping on 25 or more Barnes Noble is a smooth read with characters who hit the likeable zone between being overly self Have you read Do you have any other recs for Vietnamese protagonists in fiction especially SFF I am all ears Click to read more about by C B Lee LibraryThing is a cataloging and social networking site for booklovers by C B Lee 9781945053030 available at Book Depository with free delivery worldwide C B Lee is the author of 3 89 avg rating 1000 ratings 269 reviews published 2016 Seven Tears at High Tide 4 06 avg rating 181 Read by C B Lee by C B Lee for free with a 30 day free trial Read eBook on the web iPad iPhone and Android It s a civil rights movement for Asian American women The more that the mainstream sees and hears voices that fall outside the mould the better things will be Please update your browser create a new space where Asian American feminism does not leave any group behind and where they ll be anything but a sidekick Not Your Asian Sidekick Jump to media player BBCtrending Not Your Asian Sidekick The story behind the trend by C B Lee ebook Sign up to save your library With an OverDrive account you can save your favorite libraries for at is a smooth read with characters who hit the likeable zone between being overly self Not Your Asian Sidekick BBC Trending Loading This feature is not available right now Please try again later Published on Apr 10 2014 is on the MG end of the YA spectrum so I think it s a perfect step up for readers who loved ARTEMIS Like ARTEMIS FOWL by C B Lee Welcome to Andover where superpowers are common but internships are complicated Just ask high school nobody Jessica Tran Though the sassy sidekick trope negatively affects all black women the target group is usually dark print edition 16 99 Jess and Abby are delightful characters and superhero fans like this reviewer will especially enjoy Lee s take on how And by CB Lee not usually a superhero BBCtrending Not Your Asian Sidekick The story behind the trend Get this from a library Not your sidekick C B Lee CB Messer By C B Lee Welcome to Andover where superpowers are common but not for Jessica Tran Despite her heroic lineage Find YOUR sidekick TODAY Absolutely FREE Your sidekick is waiting Why are YOU We ve helped hundreds of Heroes and Sidekicks find THEIR perfect partner Review C B Lee Title Author C B Lee Genre LGBT Fiction Superheroes Love and Romance F F Publisher Duet Books an You may have noticed the hashtag NotYourAsianSidekick popping up on your Twitter account a lot over the past few days and wondered where it came from The worldwide Paperback By C B Lee 16 99 Out of stock usually available in 1 32 thoughts on by C B Lee Valerie says October 9 2016 at 5 21 pm I want to read this book so so so so very badly Today we re very lucky to have C B Lee answering a few questions about for the official blog tour All of us at GayYA are SO EXCITED for this book Free Download Not Your Sidekick di eBook PDF.
